White Fish in Soya Sauce Chinese Style

If you don’t know what to prepare for dinner or lunch and don’t want to spend too much time in the

kitchen, that will be a perfect option. I made this dish with cod fillet, but you can do with chicken, pork or even beef. My family love Chinese food and this is an easy option of how to make it at home.

So you will need:
  • 500g defrosted cod fillet (can be any other white fish fillet or chicken breast, beef or pork)
  • 3 eggs (2 might be enough if they are large)
  • Some corn starch (also could be potatoes starch or even flour)
  • Vegetables. I used cucumber, carrot, red peppers and courgettes, but they may vary depending on what you have in your fridge.
  • Garlic
  • 4 spoons of runny honey
  • Soya sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
How to make:

Firstly cut the fish into little chunks and sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.

Chop your vegetables (not too fine) and leave them ready for later.
Whisk you egg whites using mixer till it becomes firm and cover your fish in it.

Prepare some corn starch and heat up your pan to a maximum heat.

Put some olive oil, cover fish in starch and fry till its nice and crispy.
Take fish out of the pan, put some more olive oil and fry vegetables starting with carrots, as they take longest to get soft, and adding other vegetables step by step.

Take vegetables out and make a sauce
In the same pan put 4 spoons of honey and add half cup of soya sauce. 1/4 cup of water and heat all till nearly starts boiling. Next add finely minced garlic and stir everything well. Taste the sauce and adjust it to your taste. You can also add chilli powder if fancy it a little spicy.

 Add your fish and vegetables to the sauce, stir carefully and keep it on the medium heat till all soaks with flavour and smell (only for minute or two).

Serve it with plain rice or egg fried rice! My family loved it.
