For some reason weekends always go too fast. Much quicker than any other day of the week. I personally think, that there should be at least 3 days weekend, even if we had 6 and not 5 days working! Would you know who shall I get in contact with to amend that???
Our new invention for the longer weekend was to start it on Friday evening (after Edward finishes work). Just simply not to spend evening at home, but go out instead, so it feels like it’s weekend already! So we did.
We’ve been very lucky with the weather recently, so obviously there was no even a thought of spending time indoors – we will have plenty of days for that in winter. We have decided to take Daniella and Harry (in a way) (Luka is still on holiday) to Southend-on-Sea’s Adventure Island fairground.
Was such a good decision to go there on Friday evening! Fairground was not so busy and they do half price ride bands from 6pm! We paid £8.50 for Daniella’s ride band, accompanying adult goes for free.
Daniella loves carousels, so the look on her face when we went there was priceless!!! We tried all possible rides for her age. Some of them twice. While poor Harry was (happily) sleeping in his pram, missing out on such a good fun!
After good few hours in Adventure Island it was time to go home. We stopped in one of the local family pubs for a quick drink on the way to the car and all exhausted, but happy were shortly on the way.
On Saturday the plan was to go to Edward’s uncle Santi’s birthday party at St Albans in the afternoon. Before that we went for some shopping. I needed to buy something to wear, that actually fits me after giving birth, as my figure is still far from the one I had 10 months ago. So I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!! I wouldn’t call this shopping successful, as I still looked not so good after what I bought, but at least I had something…
Anyway, the evening was lovely. We went to uncle Santi’s birthday party. It was mainly (but not only) Filipino people there. They have a big community here in UK, but they are always friendly and welcoming to other nationalities. It really felt nice and homey.
We didn’t spend Sunday at home too (we must use this weather while it lasts!). We went to Stratford Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to explore another part of it that we hadn’t been yet.
Was a really beautiful day. We had picnic on the grass, Daniella enjoyed getting wet in the fountain, lovely walk and then waiting for uncle Jim to join us. When uncle Jim arrived, we all went to the Epping forest to a really nice pub – Kings Oak. I’ve been to this pub few times before. I love it, because it is kind of in a middle of nowhere. Woods and a lot of nature around. Big beer garden and playground for little ones. In the evening, when it gets dark, you can sometimes see little bunnies jumping around on the grass! We spent our afternoon there and soon it was time to go home.
So here is Monday today and when I look back, I can happily say, I had amazing long family weekend! I think our ‘longer weekend invention’ has really worked! We will surely do this again!
