Today our little Harry reaches his half way through his first year. 6 months already. Just as I planned – we are starting solids at this stage. I think he is ready. 🙂
Before we move onto the ‘serious’ food, we firstly had to get a highchair for our not-so-little boy. When Daniella was a baby, we went a bit over the top with choosing a highchair for her. We got her Mamas and Papas Siesta Highchair, that we paid £200 for. It was a lovely highchair, but definitely overpriced. We had decided to go with much cheaper option this time.
Joie Mimzy Snacker Highchair caught my attention accidentally – while we were looking for kids Christmas presents at Toys R Us. Suitable size – not too big, decent quality, pretty looking and only at the price of £39.99 (price drop from £49.99).
That evening I did some research online and found, that Joie Mimzy Snacker Highchair has got very good reviews across the internet. Decision was made. The main question now was which pattern do we go for. There were two different owls patterns, 123 pattern (with numbers) and Parklife (trees). I was choosing between Parklife and lighter version of Owls prints. Parklife was displayed at the shop, but Owls I have only seen online. I have finally decided to go for Owls pattern without seeing it live. Bought it. And I now regret. 🙁 I think Parklife looks so much nicer. But oh well, it doesn’t affect highchair’s functionality. I still cannot get over this though. 😀
Harry’s first feed went pretty well. I gave him Banana Custard Organic Hipp pure, which is actually pretty sweet, so I thought he would love it. 🙂 I think Harry did like it a lot. Poor thing though, didn’t know how to handle it! 😀 He kept on spitting pure out or blowing raspberries, but then happily opened his mouth every time spoon approached him! He was also cheekily trying to grab the whole bowl, that Daniella (mummy’s little helper) was holding. We ended up all covered in banana custard pure!
Coming back to Joie Mimzy Snacker Highchair, my only minuses would be, that the safety stripes are white – easy to get messy and it is quite a mission to put them all together when locking baby in. It really takes time.
My main positives are:
- Easy to fold- no hassle at all, if you want to store it away after every feed
- Easy to clean
- Big storage tray – Daniella made a bed for her dolly out of it immediately!
- Reclines- since Harry is still pretty young, I was looking for this in a highchair.
- 4 position adjustable tray
So overall Harry’s first solids feeding in his new Joie Mimzy Snacker Highchair went better than than I thought it would. Baby is happy, mummy is even happier- what more can we expect? 🙂 Harry has also slept much better last night – only woke up once at 6am for nursing and fall back asleep all the way until 10am! I don’t know if it is because he was less hungry, but I hope it will stay this way! 🙂
