Half way through the year! Yey! Harry is now 6 months old (was on 30th December). I look at him and I simply cannot believe it’s the same little tiny baby, that we brought home from the hospital 6 months ago, on the 30th of June 2015!
Our most exciting news this month is that we already have two bottom teeth out!!! First tooth showed up on a boxing day and another came shortly after. Harry’s teething was not too complicated so far. There were several evenings, that he was quite upset and looked in pain, but nothing, that we couldn’t handle. I bought Nelsons Teetha granules (suitable from any age) to sooth the pain and I find this really good. Pain goes away soon and baby is happy again. 🙂
So we started solids now, at 6 months old, and so far it is really going well! Harry loves trying different tastes (and getting messy)! If he enjoys the puree I give him, he happily swallows it and waits for another spoon approaching with his mouth wide open like a little chicken. 🙂 If he is not happy with the taste, he will keep his mouth firmly shut and there is no way to squeeze another bite there! At the moment we are only eating purees, but I am planning to switch it to baby led weaning method very soon. I found it to work really well, when Daniella was a baby.
Our nights are pretty much never the same. Harry settles for the night at around 9.30pm and then depending on how much he decides to terrorise me. He sometimes wakes up at 6am for nursing, then falls back asleep until 8-9am, but other times my little terrorist wakes up from 2 or 3am every hour or so trying my patience. Luckily those difficult nights don’t happen very often, so I think I can live with that.
Our days are much more organized. Harry normally sleeps 3 times a day – once in the morning, at around 10.30am for about an hour, then at 2pm for 2-3 hours and just before 7pm short, half an hour nap.
While Harry is awake, he loves spending time in his Fisher Price Sit-me-up seat. This was probably one of the best things that we bought for him! Our baby boy loves watching his sister Daniella playing around and Daniella treats Harry more like a child now. She shows him books, explains pictures and colours. Talks to him like he is her age and sometimes even involves in her games! It melts my heart watching them together. 🙂
Most of Harry’s clothes are now 6-9 size. I really now fell in love with Marks & Spencer baby clothes! I know it’s a bit pricey, but the quality is just amazing! They just seem so pleasant and comfy on the baby! You definitely get what you pay for. I am planning to sell Harry’s clothes once he grows out of it, so it makes me feel less guilty about spending too much. 😉
At 6 months old we are moving now onto size 4 pampers nappies. We tried couple of different nappy brands, but Pampers no doubt were the ones we like most. I just keep on having this problem of Harry wetting his clothes while wearing different brands diapers. So Pampers all the way for us…
Harry is also getting hooked into Daniella’s cartoons! He loves Peppa Pig, that Daniella cannot live without, but he gets proper crazy with excitement as soon as he hears the very first notes from Wayboloo cartoon on Cbeebies! I have never seen my baby as excited about anything else that much!!! 😀
