It all feels like a dream now. No wonder, I am proper late with this post (what’s new ha ha). Nevertheless, our holiday in Turkey (back in September) was great. Probably that’s why it went so fast. We would have happily stayed for at least another week. But, oh well, all good things come to an end…
We booked our Turkey holiday about 4-5 months prior the actual trip and it seemed we had ages to wait!
I am not even gonna talk about holiday shopping and packing today. Trust me, it is a nightmare to pack yourself + 3 kids for a week. I am tend to think I might need EVERYTHING when it comes to packing. I would probably take the whole entire house if I could. But then there is a very limited space in luggages (even though we bought 20kg extra suitcase and had 1 hand luggage each). So at the end I had to somehow make those important packing decisions and to only pick the stuff that we could definitely not survive without.
So finally, the morning of so much waited 16th of September has come. We were finally off to the airport!!!
And then I had to face my least favourite part of our holiday – the flight. I am TERRIFIED of flying! I don’t even know why, I cannot explain, and I understand, that I am being silly here. But I just can’t help- am frightened when it comes to plane journeys. I was preparing myself for this since it was booked, but I was still feeling very tense, even lightheaded a bit.
But no choice, hey. If I wanted to get to Turkey, I had to board this damn plane. I don’t suppose I could drive there or take a train, huh? So I did board a plane at the end.
At the beginning of the flight I was not too bad actually. I thought I was holding myself together. But once I felt a slightest turbulence, that was it – I was about to cry and I didn’t even care about that sunny Turkey no more. Nearly 5 hours on the plane seemed like ages to me.
Now, believe me or not, I found a solution there. Maybe not ideal solution for a mother of 3, but, hey, it really did help and that was all that mattered! So here is my secret medicine if you are scared of flying:
Once our little Harry was asleep (soon after taking off), Edward and I ordered a…. RUM & COKE mixer on the plain. I know, I know, how horrible is that??? But trust me, if you could see me before and after… Before we had a drink, I was literally shaking, nearly about to cry, could even feel my migraine kicking in… After we had a drink on the plane I was all in smiles! Back to my holiday mood, all nice, calm an collective! What a miracle. 🙂 Edward and I were playing Monopoly on the iPad (Harry was asleep for most of the flight), we were all in giggles. 🙂
So finally we have safely landed in Turkey!
It was about 11pm local time, but it was still pretty hot! We found our transfer coach, that took us to the hotel and we were all happy happy. 🙂
For our holiday in Turkey we booked 5* IC Hotels Santai Family Resort. We picked this hotel mainly based on reviews. It seemed to be a perfect resort choice for families with children. (At some point I am planning to write a full hotel review with photos and video).
After we checked in, we went for some food to the main restaurant. Even though it was nearly 1am, but at IC Hotels Santai Resort late night dinner is served 11pm-1am! How thoughtful is that???
After late night snack we were far too excited to go to sleep! After changing into some lighter clothes (it was still so hot), we went to explore hotels grounds at night! Ah it was amazing! Loads of lights, swimming pools, palm trees… But most of all that evening was a beach bar! On the seaside (sea was so warm!), with a DJ, great music and drinks! There were not many people left at the beach bar, as it was already nearly 2am, but it was wonderful to sit down there, relax and have a drink after nearly whole day of travelling. We were beyond happy!
The very next morning straight after breakfast we of course went outside. Spent entire day at the pools and on the beach. (I will write more about hotel facilities in my IC Hotels Santai Family Resort Review post).
The holiday has started!
All was just great – food, swimming, live music, evening entertainments, children disco…
As days flew by, we got into some kind of routine with Harry’s and Daniella’s nap times. We obviously didn’t wan’t to waste few hours every day in the hotel room while kids were asleep. But since Harry normally naps 2 times a day and Daniella once, we found a solution, that worked us perfectly throughout the entire holiday in Turkey. We were just putting them both to sleep in Harry’s pram at different times), even though we don’t normally use pram for Daniella.
It really worked for us – after breakfast it was normally Harry’s turn to nap. We used put him in a pram, stroll around for 10-15 minutes and he is off for couple of hours. Daniella, Mummy, Daddy and Luka then enjoys sun and swimming, while our little man is asleep in his pram next to us.
Harry then wakes up at around Lunch time. We all eat lunch and then Daniella’s turn to sleep. We put Daniella into Harry’s pram (she was loving it), short stroll around and then she sleeps through while we are splashing with Harry. Wakes up after about 2-3 hours. We then all go for the evening snack and Harry is then off for his nap again until we have to get ready for dinner. We all have our dinner at the restaurant.
After dinner we normally go next to the pool bar for some drinks. Or to kids disco before that. We loved the evening entertainment at IC Santai Hotel – every single evening their shows were really good. When I say good, I mean, I would happily pay extra money to watch that!
What we loved most at IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, is that they have live music outdoors every evening! And every evening different band is playing! It was super nice. Often with dances and wonderful mood overall.
Our holiday in Turkey went much faster than we’ve ever wished it would… Last evening was just as wonderful, but sad altogether. Our beautiful fairy tail was over and was time to say our goodbyes and hello again to rainy England.
We are hoping to go back to Turkey and possibly even to the same hotel similar time next year. It was our perfect holiday in Turkey. 🙂 Thank you for reading. x
