Mini Lithuanian Break: Arriving & Magnus Hotel, Kaunas

‘Lithuanian Break’ story will be posted in 2 separate posts, as there is so much to share about. Welcome to the part 1 – Mini Lithuanian Break: Arriving & Magnus Hotel in Kaunas. There will be a video added at part 2, so stay tuned! 🙂

Our mini Lithuanian break was lovely, just as we hoped! It went so fast, though, that it feels like it was never here. Oh well, 4 days only, we knew that was gonna go as a blink of an eye.

Packing was the most unpleasant part of it.  It took me nearly the whole day to pack mine, Harry’s and Daniella’s stuff! I was so happy when it was finally over!

So at 3.30am on Wednesday, Edward, Harry, Daniella, I + my cousin with his family were all off to  Liverpool airport to catch our 7am flight to Vilnius. Luka, unfortunately, couldn’t go, as she had school to go to. But she actually wasn’t too sad, she had already been to Lithuania and also Tenerife this year, so this girl is travelling more often than all of us do!

There is one thing you probably didn’t know about me- I have a pretty big fear of flying. I am normally shaking with the smallest of turbulence. Even the thought of it makes me nervous! But this time, I took some calming drops with me, that Edward used to get his emotions in place before his driving exam, more than a year ago. I took a few drops more than they advise on the bottle and it really did help!

The whole journey went really well. Harry slept for almost half of the flight (it takes 2.5 hours to get to Lithuania) and Daniella was playing with her paper dollies- dressing them in their sticker dresses or getting crazy (and making a lot of noise on the airplane) with her daddy.

We landed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius at around 11am (2 hours’ time difference) and then took a huge 2 deck train to Kaunas, second biggest city in Lithuania (which is actually not at all big), where we had Magnus hotel booked for our stay. Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton Towers

Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton TowersIf you are looking for ideas to have an amazing time with you kids, to get them exhausted and to make that day special for them, this is the place to go! We spent our Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton Towers and I can confidently say, it was one of the most successful weekends ever! I am sure, my kids would agree 100%!

Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton TowersSplash Landings Waterpark caught our attention a while ago. We even tried to book couple of times, but they only had tickets available few weeks in advance – we normally don’t plan that long ahead!. 🙂 On Saturday, however, Edward just randomly checked Alton Towers Waterpark website for availability and to our surprise they had tickets available for Sunday! We had to grab this opportunity! Booked it that very same minute! 🙂

Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton TowersSo on Sunday morning, one hour late than originally planned, we finally got on the move to Splash Landings Waterpark in Alton. It was a very cold day, I was praying for the water and room temperature to be warm enough for me to enjoy! Children and Edward could probably swim in the minus temperatures, but not me! I need it to be nice and warm, almost like a bath tub, only then I will enjoy. Most of the UK swimming places are simply too cold for me… 🙁 Continue reading Sunday at Splash Landings Waterpark Alton Towers

Family Saturday at the Beautiful (Goyt Valley) Buxton

Finally we got to properly get out of the house! We love sightseeing, whatever the weather, but for one reason or another, we haven’t been out properly for a while now. Up until yesterday!

On Friday Edward’s brother, uncle Jim, came over to visit for the weekend, so we couldn’t find a better excuse to do some exploring! We have decided to go to Buxton. Edward and I been there before with my cousin, so we knew it would not disappoint us for sure!

The weather on Saturday was cold but sunny, so not to complain about. We wrapped up nicely in our warmest clothes and were soon on the way towards Buxton!

Buxton spa town is only about 40 minutes drive away from where we live (I know, we are so lucky!!!). However, we didn’t go to explore the town. We went for their beautiful countryside. The exact place is called Goyt Valley. My cousin and his family joined us too. They actually showed us the place. It was nice to have some guidance.

While driving there, we were already wowed by amazing views. The tiny little roads, hilly, beautiful sites, lakes, woods, it was really exceptional! Even if you don’t live very close and have to travel there for the few hours, it is still really worth a visit! The beauty of nature is breathtaking! We were struggling to keep our mouths shut. 🙂 Continue reading Family Saturday at the Beautiful (Goyt Valley) Buxton

Sunny Saturday at King George’s Playing Fields

Another weekend is nearly done and sadly we are heading towards the very end of the summer… Luckily we were gifted with lovely weather last Saturday again, so another good opportunity to go out!

King George's Playing FieldsThis time we didn’t feel like going anywhere very far, especially because we have so many beautiful places within few minutes drive from our area. The weather on Saturday was +30 degrees, therefore we have decided to go to King George’s Playing Fields in Brentwood- they have two paddling pools that I thought Daniella would love! Longer Weekend Invention

For some reason weekends always go too fast. Much quicker than any other day of the week. I personally think, that there should be at least 3 days weekend, even if we had 6 and not 5 days working! Would you know who shall I get in contact with to amend that???

Our new invention for the longer weekend was to start it on Friday evening (after Edward finishes work). Just simply not to spend evening at home, but go out instead, so it feels like it’s weekend already! So we did.

We’ve been very lucky with the weather recently, so obviously there was no even a thought of spending time indoors – we will have plenty of days for that in winter. We have decided to take Daniella and Harry (in a way) (Luka is still on holiday) to Southend-on-Sea’s Adventure Island fairground.
