Our New Home In Pictures

Reallocating: Our New Home In Pictures

Nearly two months since we moved to our new home, that we are renting.. We are now happy and settled here and I am not going to keep you waiting any longer. Even though the house is not yet perfectly picture-ready, I am sharing our home photos today. 🙂

The reason for the delay with this post is that there still are quite a lot of bits and pieces to sort out before we can relax and enjoy our days here. One of them is buying a double bed- Edward and I sleep on the mattress on the floor. We had been looking for a bed for quite a while now, but there is nothing, that we would really like. Hanging some pictures on the walls is also in my near future plans, I can never find time to do this… We  also want to replace our computer table, as the one that we currently have is very big and doesn’t go with the whole look.

Lets get to the pictures then. Continue reading Our New Home In Pictures

Furniture that we Bought for our New Home

Furniture that we Bought for the New Home justina ivanauskieneGoodness me, moving is expensive! It cost us even more this time than ever before, as the current house that we rent was empty (just as our pockets now)- no furniture, no fridge, no washing machine. Here only was kitchen cupboards, and luckily two wardrobes- in our bedroom and in Luka’s room. Therefore we had to buy most of the things ourselves.

Anyway, as much as it was painful to our wallets, it was also very exciting, I have to admit. We love creating our home and buying all the lovely things, that we believe will add some cosiness to our surroundings. So we just closed our eyes and…. SPENT…

The first priority for us as soon as we moved in it was to get the fridge and the washing machine. I cannot imagine our life without those, but probably no one can.  We have decided to buy them second hand ones, as we will unlikely be taking them to another property, once we decide to move out (hopefully not any time soon). Looked up on Gumtree and VOILA (victory in French apparently)Our fridge and the washing machine are both Hotpoint brand and actually in a really good working order.

I really do like the washing machine! We paid £100 (second hands) for it and it’s lovely! It has 8 kilograms load, which is very useful having a big family like ours. It’s pretty quiet, many options, looks fancy (lights and buttons 😀 ) and really does a great job! Continue reading Furniture that we Bought for our New Home

My Daily Cleaning Routine (in pictures)

I was never into any kind of routine before. It used to make me bored and uninterested. Starting with my work – I used to like changing my shifts from morning to evening and the other way around and finishing with my house – loved swapping furniture around, changing colour themes, etc. I thought I will never be a good housewife – cleaning and cooking was never my thing, I much preferred to go to work rather than stay home and do all house chores. My priorities have changed since I found myself settled with my current family and especially after I had Daniella and Harry, my two lovely children. (I had my first one, Luka, when I was quite young and far not settled yet).

I can finally call myself an adult. I grew to love taking responsibility for the cleanliness of our home as well as cooking. I now have my routine with pretty much everything and (surprise, surprise) I really love it!
One of my everyday routines is cleaning of course. I will be honest here, our house looks like a war zone every morning, no matter how tidy it was left the evening before, when we went to sleep. After Luka gets ready for school, Edward rushes to work, Daniella plays with her toys in the mean time, I normally find myself in a place, that looks like after earthquake or some other horrible disaster. All for me to take care of.
I am not functioning in the morning without some breakfast and a cup of tea. Therefore as a very first thing when I wake up I have my quick breakfast while catching up with things on my laptop or computer. And then my day starts.

Cleaning my Kitchen and Picnic at Belhus Woods Country Park

Picnic at Belhus Woods Country ParkFor a pregnant women, whose due date is in just one week, I believe I lead a very busy life! Since I
started my maternity leave, I haven’t had a proper lazy day yet. I consider myself extremely lucky, if I manage to take a half an hour nap during the day. That really doesn’t happen every day unfortunately…

This morning I woke up at 6am. My own fault, would have slept a bit longer probably, but yesterday I asked Edward why he doesn’t kiss me recently before he leaves to work. So he did today. At 6am. And I could not manage to fall back asleep afterwards… (I asked Edward not to kiss me again for a while that early).

After Luka left to school and Daniella and I had breakfast, I have decided to get started with my deep kitchen cleaning. This was a job that I was really not looking forward to, but I was determinate to do it before baby is born. It took me longer than I expected (10.30am till about 2.30pm with short breaks), but I did a good job! All is shining now (I just left the oven for Edward to clean (he does it so well)). And  am really happy it’s out of my way finally! Continue reading Cleaning my Kitchen and Picnic at Belhus Woods Country Park

Idea for Sunday – Car Boot Sale!

Yesterday I woke up in a mood of cleaning! Wanted to reorganise some stuff at home, needed to get rid of some clothes and other things that are no longer in use. So since early in the morning I was in action! After half a day of cleaning I realised that we have so much stuff that is not necessary to us! However, most of those things are still in a good condition or even new! It was pity to throw all this to the bin, but no point of storing at home as I don’t think I would ever use it again. I came up with another idea! CAR BOOT SALE! Why don’t we make a day of it and go to car boot sale to try and sell it with Edward and kids. I am sure it would be fun! If the weather is nice (it seems it will be this Sunday), why not to spend day outside with the family.

Picture below: Only small part of the things that I need to get rid. I also got a loads of Daniella’s clothes, Luka’s clothes and toys, Edward’s stuff and other things. 🙂

Dunton Car Boot sale - things to sell

Normally we go to Dunton car boot sale. It’s not too far from were live – 20 minutes drive and it is HUGE! It would be our first time selling there. 🙂
Picture below: My wardrobe is half empty now!! Time to renew!!!! :)))

So the plan is: to pack everything and to go there this Sunday – apparently it will be 21+ degrees. We will have to leave very early in the morning – Dunton car boot sale gates are opening at 5.30 am. Will go there with kids. Luka (my 9 years old daughter) can sell her stuff – toys, books, clothes… So she will have better understanding about money. Little Daniella will be happy to spend day outside, especially if the weather is nice. We will pack some food, hot tea and will have a beautiful unusual Sunday!
Will write an update on how did it go for us next week. 🙂
Picture below: Daniella is excited about the idea. However, she doen’t want to sell her toys at all. 🙂
