5 Tips to Keep Kids Busy While Getting Things Done

Tips to Keep Kids Busy While Getting Things Done

To keep kids busy while getting things done theoretically would be ideal, but it is often hard or not at all always possible.

The moment, when your toddler walks with you into the toilet and after asking to close the door, she calmly closes it, leaving herself inside… Makes you forget why you in the toilet in the first place. čÖé

Being a mum itself is a 24/7 job. It is never-ending routine. Man will never understand this.

Waking up – sometimes even earlier, than you would normally wake up for your daytime job, changing nappies, making breakfast. Cleaning up, doing laundry, making lunch. Putting kids to beds for the afternoon nap and tidying up again. Then you MIGHT have a little break while kids are asleep, but this is NOT always the case, as you will probably use that time for paying bills, making important calls or writing a blog, as I do!

Kids then wake up, so you change their nappies again (you have probably done that for about 5 times anyway before they went to sleep), making a little snack for them, then get on with preparing dinner, while fulfilling your babies demands: want a cartoon, want a yogurt, want to wear this dress (which is actually a sleeping dress) and not another one, don’t want to do my hair, etc…

Finally, it’s dinner time, which is just as eventful. I normally end up feeding Harry with one hand, Daniella with another (she soon gets bored of feeding herself and asks MUMMY to do it), while my own food is getting cold in front of me. Edward does try to help, but our princess often refuses to get fed by anyone else than mummy…

Reminder for myself: ask Santa for the third hand over next Christmas!

Where did I finish then. Ok, so after the dinner I am lucky enough to clean up he kitchen, always with help from my wonderful Edward- I honestly don’t know how would I cope without him. After dinner, it’s Eastenders time (ha ha). This had become a family religion. čśÇ I would normally watch it while editing my blog post or catching up with┬áother undone stuff online. And soon it’s time to get kids ready for bed (I am not even mentioning nappy changing in between no more). Once kids are ‘happily ever after’, I will finally in silence (sight) catch up with my leftover online work and at about 11pm – 12am I am off to bed.

However, it’s not the end even then. I don’t know if I can┬ácall my sleep ‘SLEEP’. It is somewhat a ‘standby mode’. In case Daniella┬ácalls from another room to fix her duvet or that she had a bad dream, in case Harry wakes up for nursing or dog starts throwing it’s bowl across the floor, as she has run out of the water. And then in no time the morning comes, and all starts all over again… I am not gonna go into the horror stories when children are ill or teething… Man will never understand this anyway… Continue reading 5 Tips to Keep Kids Busy While Getting Things Done

Just Another Post About my Beautiful Children

I am back after the whole week off blogging. It’s been a bit busy lately, my apologies. čÖé

I was just thinking today about how fast time goes and how much my children changed during past couple of months. So here I decided to share my thoughts…Just Another Post About my Beautiful ChildrenOur youngest – Harry- is still teething, but he is not too bad recently. Harry’s top two teeth are not quite there yet, but they are so near! I can literally see them poking out at any time! Baby himself is now much more settled and calmer – I didn’t even give him medicines for the past few days.

Harry has now mastered rolling over! As soon as I put him on his back, in no time he rolls over onto his tummy and then back again! He realises he can do it and his face is priceless – full of pride and happiness when he does that. So what’s next – crawling??? Ahhh, cannot wait!!!

Daniella, my cheeky little girl, is doing well. She recently grew so much – I sometimes secretly watch her play with dollies or Peppa Pig family and I am often wondering – when did that transition happen. Last I remember, she was┬ánot very keen on playing individually. But now, she builds the whole house for her dollies, there is mummy, daddy and few (never one) children involved. Some words, that Daniella uses as well – I don’t even know where she learned them from! Even I don’t use some of those.. Something like ‘cash register’ or ‘stethoscope’.

I recently noticed that Daniella is getting very much attached to Edward (her dad). Not very long ago she was 100% mummy’s girl. If you follow my blog, you will probably remember me, while I was still pregnant, worrying about Daniella’s reaction towards her┬ábaby brother, I thought she was gonna be jealous. But she really wasn’t. She is an amazing,┬áloving sister and a wonderful daughter. Our little girl every day really looks forward to Edward come back from work and play with her. Yesterday, just after dinner, Daniella offered her dad to play a game: ‘daddy, I will be a┬ábaby and you can be a PRINCESS (!)’, she said. čśÇ It was lovely watching them together. Later Daniella was snuggled up on Edward’s lap, watching Eastenders (yeh, she loves watching Eastenders). So mummy’s little girl is now becoming daddy’s little girl. čÖé Continue reading Just Another Post About my Beautiful Children

Mummy Struggles

Mummy struggles no1

Mummy strugglesLife with 3 kids, a cat and a dog is not very easy at all. In fact it is very adventurous and active (I’m just trying to describe it in the nicest way possible). There are simply not enough hours in the day. Just like this very moment: I am writing this post sitting at┬áthe kitchen table, while making dinner and rocking Harry in a mean time. Soon he will be hungry, so I’ll have to postpone┬áall and go to breastfeed┬áhim. But I might take my laptop sneakily and type with one hand while Harry┬áeats (is that not called multitasking???). I KNOW, I KNOW, I should not be on my laptop while breastfeeding. I must┬áconcentrate on my baby and make a connection with him instead.┬áBut what can I do, there are not enough hours in the day (I still need to fold my laundry from the morning)!.. Ahhh mummy struggles… Continue reading Mummy Struggles
